10 Steps To Clean A Miele Microwave Oven: The Easiest Way

With regular use, grease, food residue, watermarks, spills, etc. get settled inside the oven. Similarly, the exposed areas of the oven also get dirty by loose dirt as well as accidental spills. Now if you don’t keep the oven clean, the nets, heating bulbs, and pores will get clogged making the oven inefficient. This is why regular cleaning is necessary.

Note that cleaning is easy. If you follow the steps properly, getting a neat and shiny microwave oven is very simple. And to guide you through, I am here with the steps to clean a Miele microwave oven. The sleek and compact Miele oven cleaning may seem like a delicate process but trust me, it is pretty like cleaning any other microwave oven.

Without any further discussion, let’s jump to the steps of cleaning a Miele microwave oven:

Step 1: Plug Out The Oven

Don’t even think of cleaning the oven when it is switched on or plugged in. You are surely going to have an accident if you do so. Therefore, you should first turn the switch off and plug out the oven before you start cleaning.

Also, let the microwave cool down if you are planning to clean it immediately after use.

Step 2: Boil A Cup Of Water In The Oven

Sticky layers of food, oil, grease, and spills are sometimes very difficult to remove. To loosen such stubborn layers from the interior of the oven, take an oven-friendly cup or bowl full of water. Put it to boil inside the oven for around 4-5 minutes.

As the water boils, the steam from the water would go around the interior and slightly loosen or dissolve the dirt layers. This would make the cleaning easier and effortless.

Step 3: Remove The Cooking Plate And Revolving Disc And Wash

Before you clean the interior surface that is not removable, start with the removable parts. Take out the cooking plate and the disc below it. Loosen the lock of the plate and remove it. Pull off the disc easily as it is not attached to anything.

Now if the dirt and grease are minor, use a mild dishwashing liquid and a soft dishwashing scrub (no metal scrubs or wools should be used) to wash the disc and plate. But if the layers are still hard, dip them in a bowl of warm water and dishwashing liquid. Keep them for a few hours and scrub off the dirt. If it doesn’t suffice, keep the disc and plate dipped in the solution overnight and clean them in the morning.

Step 4: Clean The Oven Walls And Base

Now that you have sorted out the cleaning of the disc and plate, move to clean the interior.

For cleaning the walls and base of the microwave oven, a solution of dishwashing liquid and warm water would suffice. You may also use warm water and vinegar for this step. Whichever you prefer, mix them well and dip a sponge or fiber scrub in the solution. Don’t use any harsh scrub pad for this step as it would damage the metal surfaces.

After dipping, strain the water a bit and scrub gently throughout the interior of the oven. Put extra effort into the holes and pores that are likely to get clogged by the dirt. Put some extra solution to these places and scrub gently but thoroughly.

Step 5: Wipe Off The Oven Interior

If you still see any layer of grease, repeat step 4 all over again. Don’t use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agent just because the layers are hard on the walls. Have patience and keep scrubbing with the vinegar or dishwashing solution.

After you scrub the interior, use a towel dipped in warm water to wipe off the interior and remove the residue of the cleaner. Next, use a dry towel to dry out the interior of the oven.

Step 6: Detach The Door For Cleaning

A modern Miele microwave has an easily removable door. And for a thorough cleaning, you have to take it off from the oven. So once the interior is clean, move to clean the door.

You can see two retaining brackets on both sides of the door. Click the brackets to unlock them. Now don’t pull it off horizontally. It would break the hinge immediately! Instead, you have to pull the door up (as if you are closing it) making a 45-degree angle between the oven and the door. Now gently pull it off.

Place the door carefully on a towel. The outer portion of the door should rest on the towel and the inner part would face up. Note that the door is generally heavy. So work with it carefully.

Step 7: Clean The Door

Readers! Have some patience as you need to take out the layers of glasses from the door. As soil, dirt, and grease settle in between these glasses, cleaning them properly is necessary.

First, unlock the seals at the bottom side of the inner part of the door. Remove the innermost glass and then slide the seal off the door. Keep lifting the other layers of glasses after that. Now that the glasses are removed, use a soft sponge to clean these glasses.

A solution of warm water and dishwashing liquid is perfect to make the glasses shiny and clean. After you rub off the glasses, use a microfiber cloth to wipe off the classes thoroughly. Dry them well.

Step 8: Put Back The Glasses In The Door

Place the inner glasses in the door and fit the seal to fix the glasses to the door. The innermost glass has to be pushed gently over the other glasses between the retainers. Position it carefully.

Now press the retainer inwards to lock the innermost pane to the door.

Step 9: Reset The Oven

Put the plate and disc inside the oven after they have dried out properly. Revolve the plate once to see if it has been placed correctly or not.

Next, you have to fix the door again to the oven. To do that, place the door in place and push the retainer downwards on both sides. Do make sure that the retainers have been locked properly. Otherwise, the door can fall off and break.

Step 10: Clean The Outer Part Of The Oven

The interior of the oven is now clean. But you are yet to clean the exterior part of the door and the entire oven.

To clean the exterior part, make a solution of dishwashing liquid or detergent and warm water. Dip a towel or microfiber cloth in the solution and thoroughly wipe off the outer surface of the Miele oven including the door. In the end, wipe the exterior with a dry microfiber cloth.

Now the oven has a shiny look; neat, clean, and ready to use!
